Surfacing
The Safer Surfacing you choose for your play area is just as important as the play equipment itself. There are many types to choose from, we can advise you on which will suit each piece of equipment or play area as a whole.
In-Situ or Wet Pour
Wet Pour is made from a mix of recycled rubber granules and resin which is mixed on site to controlled specifications. Laid onto a hardcore base, the depth can vary to meet the free height of fall of the relevant playground equipment.
• Our standard wet pour comes with coloured ‘wear pads’ at no extra cost
• Allows for colours and graphics to be added – adding play value
• Easy to maintain
Grassmatt
This rubber surfacing is slip resistant and allows grass to grow through the holes giving a more ‘natural’ appearance – ideal in rural or landscaped areas. Laid straight onto the ground, this means that little spoil is excavated.
• Can be used under most play equipment
• Can have a ‘natural’ appearance once the grass has grown through
• Grass can be mowed as normal
• Low maintenance
Loose-fill
Carefully graded for quality, this type of surfacing (with choice of bark or sand) is the more economical and environmentally friendly choice. This type of surfacing commands a higher grade of maintenance than others as the depth must be replaced after it is often moved by excited active children – a rake is ideal for this. The only play item that we do not recommend this surfacing for is roundabouts that are powered by children running around them.
• Ideal for dynamic items as the surfacing moves with any falling children
• Sand is a play feature all of its own
• Can fit in with both rural and urban environments
