Stage 1 : Surface Pre-Treatment
4 grit-blast booths have been installed
All steelwork is blast cleaned to grade Sa2.5 in accordance with ISO 8501-1
This gives a jagged key of around 75m.
Stage 2 : Primary Layer
All steelwork is coated with a layer of zinc rich epoxy primer powder, Interpon PZ 770 (previously we used PZ 660)
This gives a total thickness of 60 – 90m
Green cured (i.e. under cured) for 10 minutes at 160º
This provides an adhesion for the coloured polyester powder
Stage 3 : Topcoat
All steelwork is finally coated with a layer of coloured polyester powder, Interpon 610 range.
To a further thickness of 60 – 90m
This is then cured for 10 minutes at 200º
This new paint system has been passed the ISO9227 Salt Spray Test and has been shown to withstand over 3000 hours. Our previous system was subjected to a less aggressive test for only 2000 hours. For the purposes of these tests, this is the equivalent of approximately 15 years.
Timber
Manufactured to meet the increasingly high quality requirements of the play and leisure industry, our specially selected and harvested Radiata pine logs are highly resistant to air cracking during the drying out process and therefore ideal for use in the creation of innovative ECO play projects. Our FSC certified ECO machined round and half round timbers are pressure treated with Osmose Naturewood in accordance with BS 8417. We offer a 10 year guarantee on timber. FSC (The Forest Stewardship Council) is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.
Tamper Resistant fixings
All the bolts used in our products are vandal-resistant, 'resistorx' head fixings. The majority of fixings are hidden inside steel channels to deter illicit tampering.
